About JOSH STANYER

Josh’s photography journey began in 2018 when he picked up a second-hand Canon camera he found in the garage. Starting with simple images of plants and animals in the backyard, he gradually developed his technical skills and eye for composition.

Moving to the city in late 2020, Josh took to the streets to photograph Melbourne during the COVID-19 pandemic, photographing many things such as the uncannily empty streets of the city and the many protests against COVID-19 regulations in Victoria. What began as a hobby quickly evolved into a passion for visual storytelling and capturing unfolding history.

Josh began his professional career in 2025, with the publication of his New Year’s fireworks photography in Neos Kosmos. That same year, his coverage of protests in Melbourne earned him his first front covers in The Age and the Herald Sun.
